GIS Sociabilités MASTER’S THESIS PRIZE 2023
The GIS Sociabilités / Sociability launches the fourth edition of its Master's Thesis Prize 2023

Aiming to encourage young researchers working on subjects related to European and colonial sociabilities in the long eighteenth century (1650-1850), this call is open to Master’s students in the following disciplinary fields: history, civilisation, literature, art history, philosophy, social sciences, linguistics. The main topic of the dissertation should be that of sociability and a transdisciplinary approach will be particularly appreciated.
Eligible dissertations must have been defended in 2023. They can be written in FRENCH or ENGLISH.
The laureate will receive a prize of 500 € to encourage his/her research work and drafting of research papers or DIGIT.EN.S encyclopedia entries inspired by his/her Master’s thesis.
The application should be submitted before January 31, 2024 and composed of the following documents:

- Curriculum Vitae (1 page)
- Master’s thesis
- Transcript of grades (MA/MPhil)
The whole application should be sent to the GIS Sociabilités in one single file in pdf format (NAME_GISPRIZE2023.pdf), to the following e-mail addresses: valerie.capdeville@univ-rennes2.fr and Kimberley.Pagejones@univ-brest.fr
Applications will be examined by a jury on the following criteria:
- Originality of the subject
- Contribution of the thesis to sociability studies
- Quality of the analysis on the topic of sociability
- Relevance of the methodology adopted and use of theoretical tools
- Structure of the demonstration and writing skills
The name of the laureate and the title of his/her thesis will be published on both the GIS Sociabilités and DIGIT.EN.S websites by mid-June 2024.
